Tension
The tension setting is an innovative design that’s part illusion, part engineering brilliance. You may do a double take when you first see one. A tension setting happens when the main stone is held in place by pressure rather than prongs (!) Many gravitate toward this contemporary setting because it gives the illusion of a floating diamond between the metal band. One thing to note—since the gemstone or diamond will be held in place with pressure, it’s important that the quality of stone is taken into consideration to reduce the possibility of damage.
